In comparison to the previous PNP- draw, Canada has invited 176 more candidates.

  • On May 12, Canada sent invitations to 557 Express Entry applicants to apply for permanent residency.
  • To be eligible for an Invitation to Apply, Express Entry candidates required a score of at least 752. (ITA). They also had to have been nominated by a Provincial Nominee Program previously (PNP). When anyone receives a provincial nomination via an Express Entry-linked PNP, their ranking is immediately increased by 600 points. This is why the minimum score was so high. The lowest-scoring nominee would have earned a 152 without the nomination. Regardless of whether there was a tie, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) publishes a cut-off period for the tie-break rule as an administrative requirement. Candidates with the minimum score were only invited to the latest draw if they submitted their Express Entry profile by April 29, 2021.

  • Having previous Canadian work experience gives PNP applicants an advantage in the Labour market. According to studies, almost two-thirds of PNP applicants who become permanent residents have previous employment experience in Canada, and the rest of them are working during their first year.

Express Entry in the Year 2021

  • Canada has only invited Express Entry applicants via the PNP and the Canadian Experience Class since the beginning of the year (CEC). This is mostly due to COVID-related travel limitations, which prevent approved permanent residents from entering Canada from outside the country, and the government's goal of allowing record-breaking numbers of new immigrants within the next three years.
  •  Through Express Entry-managed programs, Canada is expected to accept 108,500 new immigrants in 2021 alone. IRCC has given invitations to 62,328 Express Entry applicants to apply for permanent residency so far.

What is Express Entry and how does it work?

  • The Federal High Skilled Programs, which include the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program, is managed by Express Entry. The Express Entry scheme is also used by some PNPs to allow applicants to qualify for a provincial nomination.
  • If you meet the Express Entry eligibility requirements and submit your profile to the pool, you will receive a score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS gives points to you depending on your professional experience, qualifications, age, official language abilities, and other variables.

  • By Daily Express Entry draws, the IRCC invites the highest-scoring applicants to qualify for permanent residency. An IRCC immigration officer reviews your document after you submit it. If you've been accepted, the final step is to complete the landing process and become a permanent resident of Canada.
